textured layers
If you're looking for something to do Saturday evening, head over to NC School of Science and Math in Durham, and go to the ETC Auditorium Lobby to check out "layers: mosaic art by Jeannette Brossart". The opening reception is from 5-7pm with a free student musical production of "How To Succeed In Business" directly after. I have multiple new works, focusing on natural processes, with some organic and recycled materials. There will also be a couple of my larger sculptural works, which are mainly composed of recycled materials as well. Several of the works have a textural appeal, utilizing materials in a unique arrangement.

working hard
I'm having a solo exhibit in two weeks. Opening Sat, Feb 2 at NC School of Science and Math ETC Auditorium Lobby. Been working furiously in the dungeon, uh, I mean studio. I did see the sunshine today for about 45 minutes....

percolator
In general I'm not enthralled with technology. My cell phone is a phone, I don't even text. I use email, and have a website, but I've avoided most of the ipod thingees until now. Youngest son lost his ipod touch after about 6 months of ownership in 2012. We were quite sure he left it on the seat of the old van, unlocked, in an unseemly area. He saved up his money and bought himself a new (to him) one. Fast forward another 6 mo, and lo and behold the old one under his mattress. After some negotiations, I bought the original. A friend from Italy had posted some photos that she had created with an app called 'Percolator'. I had to try it... it takes the most average/bad photos and with some creative manipulating turns it into mosaic like bubbles. I was at the Eno River this AM for a walk in the woods, and took a photo of myself (see2nd pic). In the original, the sunbeam was too bright, and making my dull expression even worse. However, with Percolator, and a little enhancing, it's SO MUCH BETTER. I even rather like it, especially the tiny rainbow bubbles in the sun beam. I took some landscapes too, and they are so cool, especially for seeing the abstract color gradients and textures.... will post more soon.

thinking about patterns
rusty iron things make cool patterns
so do stacked stones and arched bricks
there is amazing inspiration all around if you look close enough
